Overcoming Obesity -- Balanced Body Chemistry

Dr. Paul C. Eck and Dr. Larry Wilson suggested the idea that obesity is related to an energy deficit brought about by imbalanced body chemistry.
This energy deficit is believed to impair fat metabolism, lead to excess water retention or fat deposition, and cause cravings for foods
that perpetuate the obesity problem.

They feel that to treat obesity effectively, the rate at which one oxidizes or burns food must be carefully
considered. How efficiently one burns food depends largely on optimal thyroid and adrenal gland activity. The importance of specific nutrients, based on oxidation types, cannot be overemphasized.

Just how does a person find out what the rate that they oxidize foods is? Determination of a persons oxidative rate is the first step in overcoming obesity. Metabolic bio typing helps balance body chemistry. It is a technique that determines where the imbalances are and sets out simple steps to correct them. By balancing a persons body chemistry with nutrition and the proper vitamin/mineral combinations the metabolism of fat is improved, water retention is decreased, and food cravings stop.

For example:

It has been determined that slow oxidizers are prone to chronically low blood sugar levels. Low levels of
glucocorticoid hormones due to low adrenal gland activity results in inadequate conversion of glycogen to glucose. The resulting low blood sugar
causes cravings for sweets. By having a HealthSmart Nutrition's Metabolic Bio Typing evaluation done these areas can be addressed.
When a person's weaknesses have been determined, the health of the adrenal

gland can be addressed with proper supplementation since one of the signs of
a weak adrenal function are overeating and weight gain.

HealthSmart Nutrition (www.air-water-nutrition-healthsmart.com) offers a Metabolic Bio Typing evaluation that also includes a hair
analysis. Copper toxicity, by causing a zinc deficiency, commonly results in a loss of normal appetite. Copper toxic individuals often eat

out

of a sense of compulsion and in the process overeat, or eat incorrectly. A copper imbalance often results in a reduced desire for protein, especially
animal protein. An adequate protein intake is vital for the slow oxidizer; inasmuch as dietary protein serves to increase one’s low rate of

metabolism. Any reduction in dietary protein intake can aggravate slow oxidation and thyroid underactivity, factors that further contribute to
weight gain.

Toxic metals lodged in body tissues, such as cadmium; also play a vital role in the causation of obesity. Toxic metals displace vital minerals such as zinc and copper, which in turn affects energy production, carbohydrate tolerance and other vital aspects of body chemistry.

It also has been determined that chronic excessive adrenal gland activity results in an increase in the amount of
circulating cortisol, a glucocorticoid hormone secreted by the adrenal cortex. Cortisol causes the conversion of amino acids and glycogen to fat,
which is largely stored in the abdominal region. Fast oxidizers often develop a spare tire around the waist. Extreme cases develop a
buffalo hump, a pad of fat on the shoulders that is characteristic of Cushing’s Syndrome, or overactive adrenal gland
activity.

This is just some of the information that is used to help a person to overcome obesity. By determining a person's biochemical imbalances using
Metabolic Bio Typing, Live Blood Analysis and Nutritional Hair Analysis
